Introduction to Vision Impairments

Module 3.2.1. Magnifiers for persons with low vision

We are all aware of what a magnifier does. It enlarges the piece of information or object viewed through it. But over the years, these magnifiers have taken several shapes bringing in new functionality with every advancement. From mere magnification, to some magnifiers allowing in-built illumination, options for changing color combination for comfortable reading, and many more. Magnifiers may be the traditional, non-electronic type or the modern, electronic, video magnifier type.  These magnifiers are a vital support for individuals with low vision to see print, do work requiring fine details or increase their visual field range.
