Morning Deep-dive workshop on EV & Energy Storage
The two largest contributors to global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are the Electricity and Heat sector, at 16.3 billion tons, and the Transport sector, at 7.84 billion tons. Decarbonizing these sectors is critical in the fight against climate change.
The shift toward renewable energy for power generation is accelerating, yet most renewable sources—except nuclear—are inherently intermittent. Solar and wind, the dominant sources of renewable energy, are highly variable and diurnal in nature. Energy storage systems play a vital role in mitigating this intermittency, ensuring a stable and sustainable power supply while supporting decarbonization efforts.
Similarly, the rise of Electric Vehicles (EVs) is driven by the urgent need to reduce GHG emissions in transportation. This transition is supported by advancements in battery technology, growing environmental awareness, and supportive government policies.
This workshop brings together experts from industry, government, and academia to dive into the evolving landscape of energy storage, uncover actionable insights and co-create a roadmap for leveraging energy storage as the backbone of a net-zero future.
